01 — The short version

This site is free to read and carries no display advertising. It is funded by booking commission: if you book accommodation, an airport or ski transfer, or an activity through one of our links, the provider pays us a commission. Your price is the same either way, and it never affects what we recommend.

We work with Stay22, a booking partner. Rather than us tagging links by hand, Stay22 runs a script that rewrites the accommodation, transfer and activity links in our guides as the page loads, adding the tracking that lets a booking be credited to us. Because that happens in your browser rather than in the text we publish, we cannot tell you at the time of writing exactly which links are monetised — which is why every article carries a disclosure at the top rather than a label on individual links.

Links to transport operators, museums, official tourism bodies and the cantonal authorities are there because that is where the authoritative version lives. Most of them earn nothing.

03 — What we do not do

Nobody pays to be recommended here. There is no sponsored placement, no paid review, and no arrangement under which a hotel, restaurant or attraction can buy its way into a guide or change how it is rated. No partner sees an article before it is published. Geneva Tourism Guide is not run by Geneva Tourisme, by the City or Canton of Geneva, or by any hotel group.

A good deal of what we recommend pays no commission whatsoever: the Geneva Transport Card that comes free with your hotel room, the museums whose permanent collections are free, the lake swimming at the Bains des Paquis, and the days when the honest advice is that something is not worth your afternoon.

04 — What this means for your data

Stay22’s script identifies your device so that a booking can be credited to us. It does this from characteristics of your browser and device rather than by setting a cookie, and it stores an identifier in your browser’s local storage — so a cookie-only opt-out would not catch it. On this site the script is held behind the consent banner as a marketing service: in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it does not load at all unless you accept that category, and elsewhere you can switch it off from the same banner. Refusing does not limit anything you can read here.
